Deliveries of the Nottingham Post were disrupted in Lambley this week after the local delivery boy suffered an accident. Fred Swan, 13, came off his bicycle near the bottom of Green Lane shortly after 4pm on Monday 11 October.
As a result, no evening papers were delivered in the village that day. Fred has asked us to pass on his apologies to his customers. Deliveries are now being handled by a substitute.
Fred was taken by ambulance to the Queen’s Medical Centre on Monday, where a complex triple fracture of the tibia (shin bone) was diagnosed. He is expected to undergo an operation on Thursday and hopes to return home on Friday. The local boy is known for his title role in Lambley Jack’s Cowslip Tales, held in Lambley in May 2010.
