THE IRON railings around Governor’s Field, Woodborough, have finally been repaired as of today, 9 February 2011. Damaged in a car accident in August 2010, a section of the railings adjacent to the bus stop were removed and temporary barriers erected.
The repair project, approved by Woodborough Parish Council as long ago as September, involved new stone foundations and railings, which have now been leaded-in in the traditonal manner. It is understood that delays to the project involved delivery of the stonemasonry.
In an unconnected issue, the lease on the Governor’s Field remains subject to legal wrangling. Although a new lease was signed in 2009, the paperwork was rejected by the solicitor for having hand-written amendments. Since then a dispute over the proper boundaries of the field has arisen. This topic has been discussed at numerous Woodborough Parish Council meetings since September 2010 – the complete 2010 council minutes can be downloaded as a PDF file (1.6Mb) here.
