PLANS TO celebrate the royal wedding in Woodborough have moved forward, after two well-attended community meetings. Four Bells landlord Craig Smith is coordinating the effort, which will be held in and around the pub and its car park, and is calling for potential sponsors and helpers to come forward.
A limited number of stalls will be available for rent, at a cost of £10 for the day. Items for sale and activities to take part in are particularly encouraged, with the rental charge being part of the fundraising efforts in favour of the chosen charity, Cardiomyopathy.
The broadcast of the royal wedding will be shown on screens and, after the television coverage ends, live music will be performed. Picnics will be available for pre-order, and other catering including a barbecue should ensure plenty of food. Thirst can be slaked with a number of special beers, in addition to the usual range of refreshments. The festivities may be closed with a firework display, but this is subject to confirmation.
“Right now we really need to get people to commit to helping out on the day” says Craig Smith. “We need help organising children’s activities, with decorations, to help with our miney raising efforts during the day, and with the music. A number of people have come forward already but – please – just drop me a line or pop in to let me now what you can do to help.”
Craig can be reached by email on craigsmith1976@hotmail.com or through the Four Bells.
“We are also looking for prizes for the raffle, and items for the charity auction”. Among the prizes already sourced is a signed hockey stick from GMB Panthers and a pair of tickets to Nottinghamshire County Cricket.
The event is likely to attract significant press coverage, with BBC Radio Nottingham already running a series of stories in the run-up to the day, and East Midlands Today committed to televising Woodborough’s royal wedding party.
The event has been listed on Facebook, and those attending are encouraged to use this to help spread the word.
