THIS WEEKEND sees the return of Cowslip Sunday, Lambley’s revived celebration of its history, its village life, and its emblematic flower. Most activities centre around the village hall and playing field, but the whole village will be included in the extended Cowslip Procession.
Starting at 12 noon, a new Arts and Crafts Fair will be held at Lambley Village Hall. This provides a novel opportunity to see local artists and craftspeople demonstrating their skills, and a chance to buy their work. The arts and crafts fair runs until 5pm, and refreshments will be available throughout thanks to the efforts of the Lambley WI. Entry is free.
The Cowslip Procession will set off from the village hall at 2pm. This year the route has been extended and will take in Spring Lane and Cromwell Crescent before proceeding along Main Street to Church Street, Orchard Rise, and returning to the hall. Nottinghamshire Police have agreed to temporary road closures to allow the procession to pass.
One of day’s highlights is the theatrical production of Lambley Jack and the Giant of Ploughman Wood. This rumbustious panto-style play, performed by local actors and written and directed by Lambley resident David Longford, will take place in Farmer Dickie’s stage on the playing field starting at about 2.45pm, and is free to attend.
The final entertainment of the day is the Cowslip Ceilidh, held from 7.30 to 10.30pm in the village hall. Tickets are £5 (£2 concessions) and are available in advance from the Robin Hood Inn on Main Street Lambley, or on the door (but beware – last year’s event was a sell-out).
Further details of Lambley’s Cowslip Sunday celebrations, including a video preview of the Lambley Jack play, can be found on the dedicated Cowslip Sunday website
Would you please give me the contact details for the lady that had a hand-made doll stall at this year’s fair and also the stall holder with place mats etc (or forward this e mail to them if you prefer)
Many thanks
