OXTON Film Club’s next presentation promises to move the cinema experience upmarket, with champagne and strawberries on offer as well as the usual popcorn and sweets.
Two blockbuster films will be shown on 5 May 2012, on the big screen at Oxton Village Hall. First is The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn which was only released late last year. Featuring a star-studded cast including Simon Pegg and Daniel Craig, and directed by Steven Spielberg, it is a movie to appeal to all ages. Intrepid reporter Tintin and Captain Haddock set off on a treasure hunt for a sunken ship commanded by Haddock’s ancestor.
The second film is Bridesmaids (15), a highly-acclaimed romantic comedy starring Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, and Rose Byrne. A maid of honour and a bridesmaid find themselves competing with each other to establish who is the bride’s best friend, and their rivalry threatens to upend the life of an out-of-work pastry chef.
To help guests feel like they are really part of the proceedings, Oxton Film Club will be offering strawberries and champagne during this performance, in addition to the usual popcorn, snacks, and drinks.
Films at Oxton are shown on a large screen with a high-quality sound system, in the comfortable surroundings of Oxton Village Hall.
Doors open at 5pm (feature starts at 5.30) for Tintin, and at 8pm (8.30 start) for Bridesmaids. Tickets cost £4 per film, £3 for children and concessions, and are available in advance from Oxton Village Shop, Ethel Cottee on 0115 9653477, or Roy Walker on 0115 9653595.
