OXTON Projection House returns on Saturday 1 September with two recently released comedy blockbusters – The Muppets, and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – both originally released just last year.
The Muppets (U) features old favourites Kermit and the inimitable Miss Piggy, and will appeal to the whole family. With the help of three fans the Muppets reunite to save their old theatre from being redeveloped.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (12A) is a highly-acclaimed comedy drama starring Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, and Bill Nighy. It tells the story of a group of retirees who discover that a newly-refurbished hotel in India doesn’t live up to its advertisements. Nevertheless the guests are eventually won over by its charms.
In keeping with the Oxton tradition of audience involvement in its movie presentations, children are encouraged to bring their toy Muppets with them to the performance. Adults will be catered for with curry, naan bread, and Indian beer on sale in addition to the usual popcorn, snacks, and drinks.
Films are shown on a large new screen with a superb sound system in the comfortable surroundings of Oxton Village Hall. Doors open at 3.30pm with the first showing at 4.00pm. Doors open at 6.30pm for the second film, shown at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £4 per film, £3 concessions, £2 children, and are available in advance from Oxton Village Shop, Ethel Cottee on 0115 9653477, or Roy Walker on 0115 9653595. Tickets on the day cost an additional £1.
