North Lambley is no longer cut off from south Lambley, thanks to the re-opening of the footbridge over the village’s Bottom Dumble. We exclusively reported earlier this month that the bridge had been closed for emergency repairs, requiring dog walkers and hikers to make a detour of about 300m to cross the stream near the Woodlark pub.
Now, Nottinghamshire County Council has made good on its promise to re-open the right-of-way within just three weeks. As our pictures show, the new structure includes replacement timbers on the deck and balustrade, and the works have included a new concrete facing for the north abutment. This had appeared somewhat undermined by recent heavy rains.
