LOWDHAM Festivals reading group will be talking to Giles Croft, artistic director at Nottingham Playhouse, about the stage adaptation of The Kite Runner, on Saturday 22 June 2013.
The Playhouse hosts the European premiere of this play from 26 April to 18 May, and the reading group will hear from Croft about the adaptation process and what it takes to be faithful to such a phenomenally successful book.
The event will be accompanied by Afghan food and music, plus a short film from Matthew Spangler, the US adaptor of the play. There will be time to discuss this and Khaled Hosseini’s other book, A Thousand Splendid Suns. His new book, And The Mountains Echoed, will be on sale at the event.
The event is on Saturday 22 June 2013 at the Neville Studio at Nottingham Playhouse, from 12.30 to 3.30pm. Tickets are £20 to include Afghan themed lunch, tea/coffee, a glass of wine, and a copy of either The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns.
