The Lowdham Horticultural Society‘s annual show was held on 30 August, attracting a record attendance of 2200 visitors in bright, sunny weather. A total of 661 entries – roughly half from the village and half from the wider local area – filled the marquee. Many categories had substantially higher numbers of entries than previously, and in the produce categories this meant that the stewards were kept very busy finding enough space to accommodate the entries.
Entries in the flower classes were similar to last year but the vegetable class entries were higher – which was particularly welcome after the very dry spring and early summer. In both flower arranging and photography, entries were more than double last year. Visitors took advantage of the good weather to view the stalls, events, and falconry display, culminating in an exhibition of breathtaking gymnastics from the Flying Angels.
