THE ROYAL wedding street party held in and around the Four Bells Inn, Woodborough, became the focus of press interest yesterday as BBC East Midlands Today and other news organisations descended on the pub. The local news broadcaster sent both reporter Kylie Pentelow and news anchor Anne Davies to spend the day at Woodborough, making several reports on the festivities including live broadcasts during the lunchtime and evening bulletins.
BBC Online and BBC Radio Nottingham also made reports from the pub, which became the focus of press interest in wedding celebrations for the East Midlands. Landlord Craig Smith made multiple appearances, and a number of locals were interviewed.
Among the many activities of the day were a hog roast – which caused some problems by taking a couple of hours longer than expected to cook properly – several stalls selling crafts and wares, games including go-karts, giant skittles, and Splat the Corgi, and a charity auction which raised over £1000 for the Four Bells’s chosen charity, Cardiomyopathy.
A number of images can be seen on BBC Online here.
Woodborough Community Association has a photo gallery here.
The evening news bulletin was briefly available on BBC iPlayer here, but only for a day after the broadcast. However, we here at dumbles.co.uk have made a DVD recording which is currently circulating in the community. To borrow this, please contact us – editor@dumbles.co.uk – and we will add you to the list. After watching, you will be asked to send it to the next person to request it, and eventually the DVD will be deposited in the Woodborough Book Exchange.
Great day Russ
Thanks for everything!
