Floralands, a garden centre and visitor attraction in Catfoot Lane Lambley, is to close. Its owner, Home and Garden Group, was placed in administration on 27 March 2018.
Floralands had been operated since the 1980s and was part of the business empire of local farmer Mark Spencer. On his election as MP for Sherwood in 2010, Spencer vowed to divest himself of external business interests in order to concentrate on his parliamentary work.
The garden centre was eventually sold in October 2015.
The company operates other garden centres in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Worcestershire, West Sussex, Rutland, and Dorset.
Large banners in Catfoot Lane now announce a closing down sale, with discounts from 10 to 50 percent.
Alongside garden plants, tools, and accessories, Floralands has a farm park, model railway, gift shop, and cafe. A number of independently-operated businesses have also been on the site, selling gifts and local produce.
A notice on the Floralands website says: Adam Harris… and Patrick Alexander Lannagan of Mazars… were appointed joint administrators of H&G (Retail) Limited and its subsidiaries on 27 March 2018. The Administrators now manage the affairs, business and property of the companies…
