LAMBLEY residents currently organising plans to resist a proposed cemetery and crematorium on Catfoot Lane have learned of a second planning application for a cemetery on the road.
The first application is by Westerleigh Group, and is listed by Gedling Borough Council as:
- Proposed Crematorium and Cemetery for Gedling Land North Of The Lighthouse Catfoot Lane Lambley Nottinghamshire NG4 4QH
This planning application, reference 2012/0616 received on 16 May 2012, has been the subject of considerable opposition in the village, including a public meeting last week which voted unanimously to resist the planning application.
The second proposed cemetery concerns land two fields to the east (ie, towards the centre of Lambley), and is the subject of planning application 2012/0755EIA recieved on 22 June 2012. It is listed as:
- Proposed crematorium 216 Catfoot Lane Lambley Nottinghamshire NG4 4QH
The specific application appears to be for ‘EIA – Screening’ (environmental impact assessment), a preliminary procedure before submitting a full scale planing application. A similar planning application for the Westerleigh development has been waived by Gedling Borough as “EIA Screening Not Required”.
Although not listed on the Gedling Borough Council planning website, the land for this second proposed cemetery is understood locally to be owned by funeral director AW Lymn.
dumbles.co.uk has written to AW Lymn requesting details of its proposals. Check back here for updates, or watch our Facebook or Twitter pages for the latest news from the local area.
I have sent in my opposition to the first proposal to Gedling Borough Council but did not know about the second proposal. I live on the edge of Mapperley and regularly walk/run through the wonderful landscape around the proposed developments. I am deeply aware and appreciative of the range of wild life and importance of these green spaces. They mean more to me than I can say and are a huge part of my life. I wish to add to any opportunities to protest and would be grateful for further information.
Thanks Alison
