LOWDHAM’S inaugural scarecrow competition has attracted 16 entries, which will be on display in locations throughout the village on Sunday 1 and Monday 2 May 2011. Organiser Nicola Macdonald has listed the entries in a convenient order for the Scarecrow Walk, a pleasant amble through Lowdham to view the scarecrows.
Start at Lowdham Village Hall – Polly Pre-school, then :
- right along Main street to 5 The Corner – The Good Witch
- and 6 The Corner – Rapunzel
- along to 7 Main Street – See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil
- over Southwell Road to Station News (24 Station Road) – Holly
- continue over the railway line to Alphabet House Day Nursery – Geoffrey
- return to Post Office – Postman Pat
- cross road to Bookcase (made by Daisies Day Nursery) – Bob, Spud, Wendy and Mr Straw
- continue along Main Street to 4 Blackthorn Drive – The Bride and Groom
- continue further to 10 Nursery Gardens – Percy
- cross the road to Lowdham C of E Primary – Garry
- on the way back visit 7 The Priors – Pollyanna
- with four more on Ton Lane at 6 Ton Lane – Fisherman Fred
- next door to 8 Ton Lane – Mrs Skicrow
- and next door again to 10 Ton Lane – Adam the Gardener
- over the road to Brook House, Ton Lane – Olympic Annie
- and finally return to the Village Hall for afternoon tea.
