Horticultural Society has a busy time

WOODBOROUGH Horticultural Society reports that last month’s Rose and Summer flower show was well attended, with nearly 60 members enjoying the evening in the village hall surrounded by the wonderful scent of roses, sweet peas, and other exhibits.

Stuart Dixon's garden in Stoke Bardolph, a recent WHS visit

Thanks are extended to everyone who took part and congratulations to the show winners: Toppy and Robert Hanson, Betty Newman, Inga Filmer, Gill Pellegrino, Jenny Lewis, David Rose, Roger Huxley, and Doreen Slater.

More than 40 made the visit to Stuart Dixon’s garden at Hebbs Farm, Stoke Bardolph. Blessed with rare evening sunshine, the garden looked lovely with beautiful hostas and ferns, and gorgeous roses and clematis. The scones were good, too.

The next major WHS event is the annual Autumn Show, in the village hall on Saturday 8 September 2012. Schedules (which include the full Show Regulations) should be available from early August, so watch out for those. The event is an open show, so you don’t have to be a member to enter. This year, the photographic class is on the theme of ‘celebration’ (photos to be 5×7 inches and not framed or mounted in any way).

Information for the Young People’s section will be emailed to Woodborough Woods School before the end of term.
