Opera returns to Lowdham

The gardens of Lowdham Hall will once again echo to the sounds of opera on 3 July 2010, when the Garden Opera Company brings its touring production of La Traviata to the village. This famous Verdi opera tells the tragic tale of Violetta, a Parisian courtesan, who becomes the ‘fallen woman’ of the title.

This is the third Opera in the Garden at Lowdham Hall, held under the auspices of the Doverbeck Trust. This independent charity in the East Midlands provides funding for specific areas of local need which miss out  on mainstream charities.

The stage will be set in the outdoor amphitheatre created by the remains of the old Lowdham Castle, a 13th-century structure. Guests may bring their own garden chairs to set up in front of the stage, and bring blankets and picnics to enjoy in the grounds.

Tickets are £35 or £70 for a ‘platinum’ ticket, and are available for advance purchase only. Details on the Doverbeck Trust website or the ticket hotline 07536 020469
