Children at a nursery and pre-school in Lowdham marked Armistice Day this week by creating a collection of beautiful commemorative hand print painted paper poppies.

Staff at Alphabet House Day Nursery worked closely with the children to raise awareness of this very special day in an uplifting and creative way.

Lisa Chipping, nursery manager at Alphabet House, says: “Of course Armistice Day is a very serious and sombre day, but we wanted the nursery children to be aware of what the day is all about in a carefully considered way.

“Painting is one of children’s favourite past-times, so they jumped at the chance to roll up their sleeves and create their own, personal ‘Poppy Day’ poppy.

“We then gave the poppies to the children’s parents as a reminder of Armistice Day.”
