Pizza event ‘exceeds expectations’

ORGANISERS of the Lambley charity pizza bake have spoken of their delight at the success of the event.

Staged in the car park of the Wooodlark pub, it involved two teams competing to make the best pizzas using traditional wood-fired pizza ovens. A tombola, raffle, and other village fete-type attractions were also present, and live music courtesy of local covers band the (appropriately-named) Food Doctors kept visitors entertained.

The event, held on bank holiday Monday 25 May 2015, raised over £1800 for its chosen charity the Karen Green Foundation.

Glen Linsell writes to dumbles.co.uk to express thanks to all those who provided support: “Welbeck School of Artisan Food which donated the dough and catering equipment, Bampton Packaging donated the pizza boxes, Geoff from Nottingham Landscapers donated all of the wood we needed, and Merlin Inflatables the bouncy castle.

“Generous prize donations were received from Lambley Motors, the Four Bells, Lord Nelson, Ikea and Ikano.

“And of course Mick and Jill at the Woodlark Inn for hosting the event and for their contribution to the catering with the chips and sausages, and the Food Doctors for fantastic musical entertainment.

“We really appreciate all the help and I hope that we can do the same again next year, if not a little bigger and better!”
