Big screen comes to Oxton

Cinema comes to Oxton courtesy of The Projector House

CINEMAS are thin on the ground in our area, and with the exception of the annual Lowdham Flicks in the Sticks events any film lovers in our villages have to travel to Nottingham or Mansfield. Next month, however, sees the beginning of a new venture in Oxton which brings cinema closer to our patch.

Oxton Film Club is launching its village-based silver screen on Saturday 26 November 2011 with three presentations. Toy Story 3, a U-rated family movie from Pixar Studios, kicks the day off at 4pm. This is followed by Made in Dagenham (15) at 7.30pm, and Submarine (15) at 10pm. The film club hopes these will be the first of many showings by The Projector House

Movies will be shown on a large screen rented from Newark Palace Theatre, and audio will be full surround sound.  To complete the cinema experience, popcorn and other refreshments including savoury snacks and sweets will be available, and there is even a licensed bar.

Tickets cost £4 for adults, £3 concessions, £2 for children, per movie, and are available from the Oxton Village Shop, Ethel Cottee on 0115 9653477 and Roy Walker on 0115 9653595. Tickets on the door are £1 more expensive.

Further details are available on the Oxton village website.
